kjackson3591 Posted July 15, 2014 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Join us at West 5 Lounge and Restaurant in West Seattle on July 16th (6 – 9 pm) for a charity happy hour and drawing benefiting the Mount Rainier search and rescue program! Last summer a team of Mount Rainier climbing rangers rescued a group of five friends who were also REI co-workers’ during a blizzard, likely saving our lives. This year we are going back to climb the mountain in order to raise money to show our gratitude for the heroic feat they performed. Jim Whittaker (former REI CEO and the 1st American to summit Everest!) is scheduled to attend and will be available to sign books, posters etc. for the cause. West 5 is graciously hosting a fundraising happy hour and donating a percentage of their proceeds to the team, including 100% of all Rainier beer sales. All you have to do is show up and drink beer to help the rangers out! There will be a drawing for some incredible gear donated by REI, Marmot, Smith Optics, Oakley, Gregory, Goal Zero, and The North Face, among others!
