  1. I have been on this board ( different avatar, #119 ) since the early days and after a six year hiatus from climbing (rugrats, ratrace) I am catching up on old cc.com. Going through alot of the threads from the past, I keep seeing alot of RIP posts, joepuryear, dave_tripett, a lot of others. Is there a consolidated post for those who passed on?
  2. I remember years ago someone was planning on building out the old cooling tower in Satsop for a climbing wall similar to this...
  3. did you play around with soloing as well? (e.g. silent partner, continuous loop ).
  4. Lowell - Shows how old school we are, chain-link backstops are cool. I've used them for dry-tooling also, doesn't F up the tools as bad and one can use boots/crampons. Hmm. I may have to find my way down to a couple of old baseball fields to try this... I took the advise, and learned to aid! It was awesome! What kind of system for rope did you use?

  6. Since my sad ass hasn't been up a route in years, I am excited now that my eldest is expressing some interest in climbing. Any thoughts on full-body vs. a regular harness for a 40 pound 5 year old?
  7. RIP Dallas I have his guides ( including old scans ) and in my personal dealings with him, found him to be a humble, driven man. A huge loss...
  8. so I get the feeeling like your,oh so seriouse. Is that anything like climbing the north face of uxbridge road? Very much so. Renton is the sh*t. Here is a pic from a few years ago, before the elementary school janitor chased us off
  9. I have got a budding climber and want to scout out some harnesses for potential purchase. He is about 35 pounds or so, most reviews I have come across have been for kids 5 and up...
  10. Renton is good but the administration at the elementary school are a bit wary about folks cutting across the playground during school hours
  11. Approach : Via B-G trail, fixie used for additional difficulty Gear : Allen wrenches for loose holds Impressions: Nice set up with climbing wall with a mix of cracks, pockets, bolt-ons, and a chimney w/ chockstone. A separate boulder area which pales in comparison to say UW rock but definitely fun. The landing area is shredded rubber. Downside is that the area has no noon - early afternoon shade with a southern exposure. The Enterprise wall heats up pretty quickly ( even with temps in the low 70s today ). O One of the Basic instructors was there and let me peek inside the climbing wall. A couple of ladders lead up to trap doors on top. Seeing that I live mid-way between UW rock and the Mounties, this at least gives me some variety... Pic off flickr
  12. Damn. I remember seeing him around Stone Gardens...f*cking sad RIP Ryan
